Presentation by a distinguished alum at the Department of Chemistry's weekly seminar series. A Graduate Student Research Poster Symposium and reception will follow.
Professor Robert A. DiStasio, Jr. graduated summa com laude from PSU in 2003 with degrees in Chemistry and Biology, and began graduate school the following Fall with William Goddard III at Cal Tech. In 2004 he moved to UC Berkeley to continue his graduate studies with Martin Head-Gordon, graduating with his Ph.D. in Theoretical Chemistry in 2009. Following the completion of his graduate work he moved to Princeton University to carry out post-doctoral studies with Roberto Car, Salvatore Torquato, and Frank Stillinger. DiStasio is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Cornell University, where his group focuses on the development, implementation, and application of novel methodologies that extend the frontiers of Electronic Structure Theory in complex condensed-phase environments.
