The modern meets the mythic in this inspiring concert. In 1968 the world watched in awe as the Apollo 8 spacecraft broadcast the first images of the earth rising over the moon. This new choral piece by Kile Smith combines the transcript of the astronauts’ words with medieval text contemplating the heavens, offering a lyrical and moving perspective on humanity’s place in the universe.
This will be the piece’s second-ever performance; for its third, the Chamber Choir travels to New Zealand this summer for the prestigious World Symposium on Choral Music, furthering the choir’s international reputation.
