It is with great disappointment and sadness to announce that our special 10-year anniversary conference has been canceled. This is due to the State of Oregon health-related moratorium on large public events and Portland State’s restrictions on group meetings. Our tenth year event will now be celebrated in 2021.
The planning committee is currently exploring having a QSOCC Virtual Experience during April 25, 2020, when the conference was originally scheduled for. Stay tuned to our website www.pdx.edu/queer/qsocc for updates. We are also on Facebook at Queer Students of Color Conference.
Please join us for the 10th Annual Queer Students of Color Conference!
This year, our conference theme is "Building Prismatic Futures: Illuminating Our Dreams, Joy, and Community."
With this conference, we aim to bring together the brilliance of the experiences, memories, songs, and stories that Queer & Trans Black, Indigenous People of Color (QTIBIPOC) have shared for generations. Similar to how light is refracted through a prism, we acknowledge that the experiences of QTIBIPOC do not exist in a linear and structured fashion. In this space, we seek to release the resilient and creative energies from our community in the following ways: challenge the norms and values of white supremacy, reclaim our creative agency and joy, recognize different forms of knowledge from different bodyminds, cultivate a community of care, and honor our past, celebrate our present, and rewrite ourselves into the future.
For our Tenth Anniversary, QSOCC 2020 will have free registration. Registration must take place through the website.
